About Reflexology
Reflexology is a complimentary therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet and hands correspond with different areas of the body. By stimulating these reflex points (essentially nerve endings) and applying compression massage we can target specific areas in the body, encouraging them to function more efficiently.
Did you know...?
...there are over 7000 nerve endings in the feet alone, so it's no surprise that by applying pressure to this area we can have a relaxing and restorative affect on the whole body. This along with improving blood circulation can allow the body to heal itself, eliminate toxins and encourage homeostasis.
Reflexologists believe that crystalline deposits of waste products, usually calcium and uric acid, accumulate around nerve endings on the foot and feel 'crunchy'. Swelling or tenderness could indicate a potential issue or tension in the related zone. Working on a point helps crush and dissolve the crystals and stimulates circulation so the lymphatic and circulatory systems can more easily eliminate them.
